On a Lip Gloss

Once upon a time, Neutrogena made its MoistureShine lip gloss in a color called Glam. It went on smoothly, smelled delicious, and most importantly had absolutely no shimmer or glitter. Just plain, perfect, salmon pink (why are you running away?) It is now discontinued (just like everything else I love). Then I found MAC tinted lip conditioner in, ostensibly, "Gentle Coral". It sounds like something pensioners would apply with liberal hand or a colorway in the Lilly Pulitzer lookbook. But there it is: sparkle-less, shiny salmon. Once applied, it gives you the pink pouty mouth of a teenage ingenue. It even smells like vanilla. The only complaint is that it comes in a pot, requiring you to dip your grubby fingers (I always use the pinky, since I figure it's all the way over there, feeling lonely) right on in and contaminate for future use. Beggars can't be choosers.

This is the inaugural post of Gothic Preppy; I figured that was an accurate condensation (?) of my style, and I also hoped to ruffle a few feathers of people who would never expect those two words to go together.

Probably for the most part til I get comfortable at this, I'll be importing old fashion related posts from my livejournal (Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom), so if you're coming here from over there, you haven't missed much.

Though I will close by saying that my father was watching TV and kept repeating, in a very "posh" accent, Tinsley Mortimer.Tiiiiiiiinsley Mortimer

*you ever notice how when you type things over and over again, they stop looking like real words?
